It’s March! Spring has sprung! Hallelujah!
Enough about scarves and gloves and mittens, let’s change the subject to
something a little more interesting. On
Wednesday I drooled over a very pricey Maje Spring coat. As finances dictated that this would not be
mine, I began to peruse more wallet-friendly options. Not that I’m in the market for a new coat
right now, but it’s always nice to get a feel for what’s out there … who
knows? I might suddenly have a change of
heart! For me, Spring is all about coats
and jackets. I maintain it doesn’t
really matter what you wear underneath.
Pop on a great coat and you’re good to go. I’m not talking about macs; I mean a great
little coat that will instantly dress up an outfit.
I debated …
should I save the best ‘til last or open with what I think is a beauty? But this is such a gorgeous coat, that I
couldn’t possibly wait til the end of the post to tell you about it. The Bright Floral Boucle coat from Topshop. Deee-vine!
I absolutely adore this coat.
Isn’t it a
beauty? It would be stunning whether
worn over jeans and a tee-shirt or an LBD. (or an L Grey D for those of us who
suffer from scalp psoriasis!)
This next one I
spied in Benetton. Annoyingly, their
online store is down right now, but if memory serves me correctly, it’s around
the hundred euro mark (don’t quote me on that!). The picture doesn’t really do it justice as
in reality it’s not quite so bulky; it’s quite simply a very pretty swing style
coat, perfect for this time of year.
I’m sticking
this one in as well although it doesn’t really fit in with the Flaky rules that
I’ve been preaching all year i.e. no dark colours on your shoulders. But not everyone with psoriasis has scalp
issues, so here you are, the asymmetric zip coat from Next. Loving the style of this.
So, are you a
coat or jacket person? Or do you tend to
wear both?
Finally, those
of you who follow me on Facebook will have already seen this, but I was very
interested to learn that the British model, Cara Delevingne announced last week that
she suffers from psoriasis. Whilst we
occasionally hear this from celebrities, we rarely see evidence to support
their claim. Cara however, strode down the
catwalk, making no attempt to hide it.
My hat off to her … I don’t think I’d have been so brave!

Have a great
weekend.

Hi there! What a gorgeous selection, I am more of a jacket gal, but I do have a vintage 50s floral duster coat that I may well dig out to wear! Have a good weekend xxx
ReplyDeleteThat sounds really interesting - will we see a pic on your blog at some stage?
DeleteI do have quite a lot of coats and jackets, love both. I'm with coats a bit like bags and shoes and I adore the first two options you feature here. I need a new Mac, I sold one a couple of years ago because the length wasn't right so its going on my wish list.
ReplyDeleteI'm desperate to get into a jacket, this Autumn/Winter seems so long (ah and there was no summer) to be able to wear jackets will be joy in itself!
ReplyDeleteLove the coat from Topshop Helen,
ReplyDeleteit is gorgeous....
Not too sure about the other two (they wouldn't suit me
but would probably look fab on everyone else)!!!
Have a great week and a lovely month of March
x Fiona
I like a mixture of coats and jackets. Although I probably have more coats than jackets in my wardrobe. I do love a nice coat.
ReplyDeleteGosh I adore both those top coats and especially the top one. I keep looking at florals and wonder if I would tire of them but not that top one!
ReplyDeleteYea, I'm the same. Not usually a huge fan of florals to be honest, but the Topshop coat is a real winner. Can imagine myself getting a lot of wear out of that.
DeleteI saw that coat a few weeks back when I went in the Leeds Topshop and it really is a lovely coat. Really eye catching (probably why I noticed it) but I have to say, it's not something I would find particularly easy to wear (says she, owner of Zara quilted floral biker in your face jacket).
ReplyDeleteAnd I didn't know that about Cara Delevingne and her psoriasis - good on her. I only noticed it on her legs when you mentioned it.
I have a plain white Malene Birger coat I love but actually haven't got that much wear out of it... hopefully there will be lots of sunny Spring days ahead and it will get an airing!I do like that floral Topshop one though:)

Really love the first coat! It's encouraging to see Cara Delevingne raising awareness and taking to the catwalk with psoriasis. My dad suffers with psoriasis very badly and has done for about 30 years, no miracle cure so far, although I think he had some degree of success with Chinese herbs, which stank to high heaven and did nothing for his stomach!! x
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, although I'm constantly on the lookout, I don't think there is a miracle cure. I'm well impressed by Cara Delevingne though. Very brave indeed! I think the main thing people should know is that psoriasis isn't contagious .. if she can spread that message it would be wonderful.
ReplyDeleteIf I had the right weather here in Atlanta this would be my perfect Spring coat - I LOVE it! http://www.zara.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product/us/en/zara-nam-S2013/367501/1160021/COMBINATION%20FABRIC%20COAT
ReplyDeleteOh yes, that is a gorgeous coat too. Not dissimilar to the Next one in style, but a better colour for Spring. Good choice!
