Wednesday Wish

I think in a former life I must have been a rock chick.  I say in a former life, as in this life (and those who know me will certainly concur) I most definitely am not.  Yet somehow I am always drawn to biker style jackets, leather jackets and indeed any jackets that have zips and leather trim.

I have to confess that I’ve never really been a big fan of Karen Millen.  I realise that this is an almost blasphemous statement to make on a fashion blog, but for some reason I’ve just never really understood the fuss made about Karen Millen clothing.   However, passing the store recently, my attention was caught by this panelled biker jacket.  Normally I wouldn’t consider a fabric and faux leather jacket to be worth this price tag, but the quality of the finish caused me to pause and admire for a moment.  It contains all the elements that I love.  Biker style, zips, leather trim and (need I say it?) the ideal colour for anyone who worries about a flaking scalp.  Perfect for summertime in this neck of the woods, when let’s face it, a rain-free day is considered a bonus.  Very nice indeed!
perfect colour for anyone with psoriasis scalp flaking

  1. I have to say, I've also never been very taken with Karen Millen and probably haven't stepped in one since 8 years ago when I was helping a friend look for a dress for a wedding do. I think it's always looked a little bit footballers wives to me but there are probably some lovely pieces away from the very obvious ones. Your pick and Avril's raincoat are prime examples of this - when they go a bit less flashy, they do it really well.

    1. I have to agree Sue. I have always thought of it as a bit too glitzy for me. Friends teenage daughters have bought debs dresses there .. definite sign that I should steer clear! But the basics such as this jacket and as you said, Avril's trench are really lovely

  2. Hi there! I really like this-it's a perfect trans-seasonal piece that would work well with most items in the wardrobe and I love the contrasting colour way and of course the biker detailing!

    1. A fellow biker-style fan I see! It would be perfect for Spring/Summer (which are essentially the same seasons here!!).

  3. Sue beat me to it - I was going to say that I'm not a huge fan of their clothes but they do a coat really well in KM. The cut is always exquisite and the trim and finish is excellent. Every time I wear my KM trench, someone asks me about it. Worth the investment for sure! Loving this biker style one - right up my street! Avril x

    1. Glad you like it. My sister is a fan of KM and has some lovely pieces, ie jackets and coats that she's bought over the past couple of years. The cut and finish is divine on all of them. I think Sue and I will have to revise our opinion!!

  4. I used to buy loads from Karen Millen before I had Charlie 12 years ago. You could always get a dress for a night out there and I used to pay about £110 per dress even back then, so they were always high end high street. I doubt I'd fit in them now!

    1. You and me both! I wouldn't dream of trying on one of their dresses, lol! Their coats and jackets however appear to be different. Maybe you should have a look there again??

  7. I also love the style but not baggy enough for me sadly. I bought a great bikers jacket in Camden market, never wore it and the two cocktail dresses from Karen Millen are languishing in my closet...just that weeny bit too tight.

    1. Oh Jody, they must be size 00 if they don't fit you right?? Can't believe that ... I've seen the pictures of you in that gorgeous blue evening dress and you know they say the camera never lies:)

  8. I always found the clothes to be a little on the tight side too, definitely more suitable for a really petite figure. However I did pick up a tan leather jacket in a sale some years ago and wear it quite a bit so it was well worth the investment:)

    1. OK Anne, I'm now officially jealous! If there's one thing that KM do really, really well, it's a leather jacket.
