Perhaps it’s the
relentless rain we’ve been experiencing lately.
Perhaps it’s the fact that I’m firmly on the wrong side of forty and age
is taking its toll on my fashion mojo.
Perhaps it’s because deep down I’m just fickle. But people, I’m about to do a complete
about-turn on my general antipathy towards macs as stated in my post last September. In that post, I firmly stated that macs just bored me to tears … although I did point out the myriad of
reasons why they were the perfect coat for anyone with a skin disorder. Notwithstanding this, I was resolute in my
aversion to the style. But not anymore!
And the reason
for such a change of heart, I hear you ask?
Well, the finger must be pointed in the direction of Zara. Just when I think I’m bored with their
stock. Just when I feel it’s time to
move on and find another high street store to lust over; what do they do? They fill their rails with new season stock. And it’s good, it’s very good indeed. Particularly for those of us who have a list
of criteria as long as our arms when it comes to dressing for perfect psoriasis
concealment.
First up, is the
aforementioned mac … or double-breasted raincoat as they call it. I like the colour, (the beige, not the camel)
but most especially I love the detail.
You may remember how I mentioned my love of zips (see here). Well they are here in abundance on this rain
mac and to my mind, make it a little more interesting compared to the usual ‘bleugh’
beige-ness of other macs. You will have
to use your imagination to get past the utterly hideous styling in this
picture, but trust me! This is a Spring
time coat that is worth checking out. (Do you think the model hates macs too? She certainly doesn’t look too happy!)

| A CLOSE-UP SO YOU CAN ADMIRE SOME OF THE ZIP DETAIL |
As much as I
like this coat, I have to admit that I’ve never fully understood why macs are
considered the perfect raincoat when in the majority of cases they don’t have a
hood. Not that I’m recommending hoods as
the latest fashion accessory I hasten to add, but when rushing from place to
place and trying to keep one’s hair from frizzing (think Monica from Friends in
that episode when she encounters humidity.
I’ll say no more!) frankly umbrellas are just too cumbersome. So I was particularly charmed by this take on
the mac, the raincoat with detachable hood, not just because of the hood, but because it is the perfect length for those of us
doing the school run or generally being Mom’s Taxi.

| PERFECT MAC FOR THE RAIN |
Before I take my
leave, I just wanted to add this combined coat to the mix. I was very taken by the mix of white and
black. Perfect for the monochrome look
that is so on-trend this season and even more perfect for anyone who is
fighting the battle of a flaky scalp.
Camouflage doesn’t get much better than this.

I shall see you
again on Wednesday, when I warn you, I’ll be returning to an old favourite for
my weekly wish. Happy Monday to you all.

They are lovely...I have a short Zara one so I would go for the top mac! That coat is fab also....I'm supposed to be looking for dresses though, so better get that sorted first. Have a good week:)
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the dress hunt. I'm sure you'll find something lovely.
DeleteHi there! I prefer parkas to trenches (maybe because of the hood factor!) but there are some really great ones about at the moment, M&S have a lovely Spring one for £39 xx
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen the M&S one. I'll have to go and check it out.
DeleteI've got a short Zara trench like the one in the picture but I really want a longer mac. Something else to add to the list!
ReplyDeleteThat list is generally never-ending, isn't it?!
DeleteLove the trench coat. Just saw your comment too about the styling on the new site - dreadful isn't it! You need to be a visionary to look past it!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it terrible? The models look so miserable .. it's almost as bad as the Cos website!
