It seems to be
all about tops with me these days, but quite honestly, they’re such a tricky
item to find that when I stumble upon a little gem, I get positively giddy! So many boxes need to be ticked when trying
to conceal psoriasis; sleeve length, colour, fabric … sometimes the list
seems endless! However, as I was running through our local shopping
centre recently, racing along as fast as my high wedge trainers would allow
(late for school collection … plus ca change!) I spied this top hanging
inside the door of River Island. Late as
I was, I must admit that I did a back-track for a closer look. Bad mother!
Clearly my inner
magpie had reared its sparkle-loving head again, for this top certainly has an
element of bling although in a more subtle way than the usual sequinned offerings. The online pictures don’t really do it
justice as in reality it’s a soft dove-grey shade with an almost faded black
etching. The little bling element is
actually quite subtle, but is enough to ensure that you don’t have to worry
about too much adornment when wearing it.

| CLOSE UP OF THE PATTERN |
I think this
would be a great addition to any wardrobe. Worn under a black leather jacket with some black
skinny jeans in the winter and with white or grey coloured skinnies in the spring
and summer, it is a versatile piece to style.
It’s smart enough to wear out to dinner, yet casual enough for lunch
with the girls. And of course, it ticks every box in the aforementioned
list for those who suffer from psoriasis.
The price tag in the store was €55.
The price online is £40. Now, I’m
no mathematician, but methinks someone has got their calculations very wrong
on this one. Notwithstanding that fact,
do take a look if you happen to be near a River Island store. I even love the name … it’s called the Grey Ditsy Print Sequin Embellished Top. How’s that
for a mouthful?

And on that note
I must run. There is a birthday being
celebrated in our house this weekend and a party to plan … complete with cake
pops, ice-cream cake and Mars Bar squares. Heigh ho, ‘tis off to the kitchen
I go ...
Talk to you on
Monday

Hi there! thats a really cute top, love the sequin detailing on it! have a good weekend, sounds like fun!! xx
ReplyDeleteThank you .. the birthday girl certainly had fun .. the birthday girl's mommy is ready for bed at this stage:)
DeleteJust had a thought - would this work with a pencil skirt for the confirmation? What you put on your legs be it high boots or black opaques is up to you but I could see this being totally dressed up. My natural instinct is to pair with some black jeans but then I went the other way and thought of it with a smart clutch and a black fur coat. Now I'm really going off on one aren't I?
ReplyDeleteInteresting ideas Sue; I hadn't thought of a skirt either as I was focussing on the jeans. However, I have been informed by both sister and friends (who are frankly a little too honest sometimes!!) that this top is awful (actually, I'm abridging their comments quite a bit) so that pretty much rules it out for the Confirmation :(
Deleteoh I love this top....its soooo different

Glad you like it J. Hope you had a good weekend.
DeleteLike Sue's idea above think that top would look great with a pencil skirt, it's lovely and with the rows of sequins its really unusual.
ReplyDeleteI think Sue's idea is interesting too. Glad you liked it .. I think we're in the minority, lol!!
DeleteHi, Great top, looks like it would be a very versatile little buy. Did you buy it or did you collect the children? x
ReplyDeleteNo, I didn't buy it, lol! That would have involved trying it on at which point I would have been horribly late at the school gate!!
DeleteWow, that is such a lovely pattern, you will never tire of that and the silvery goldness of it will look fab with your blonde hair
ReplyDeleteThanks Jody, I'm glad you like it. It was a top that got a very mixed response!
