When I grow up,
amongst other things, I plan to invest in a really cool pair of sunglasses. A bit like handbags, it doesn't matter if you have psoriasis or not ... sunglasses will always fit! Sadly, it would be pointless for me to make such an investment just yet, as I generally go through a pair every six
weeks. It’s a given that I will sit on them,
accidentally fling them to the bottom of the grocery trolley or in some way irreparably damage them. Hence, cheap and cheerful (but large!) has always
been fine with me.
If I weren’t so
clumsy however, I would love a pair of these Tom Ford sunglasses. I could channel my inner Victoria Beckham
(clearly I would need to go down about six or seven dress sizes to achieve this
look) and swan about exuding an air of the enigmatic behind my dark frames. I like these because they don’t have too much
glitz or shimmer. Strangely, my love of sequins
does not extend to eyewear. It’s a very
simple gold T on the side-bar, which is subtle and discreet.
So, would you
invest a couple of hundred on these glasses … or are you already a grown-up and the proud
owner of something similar?

2 summers ago I grew up and invested in a pair of Tory burch. Up until then I, like you had spent nothing more than $20 on a pair and even that was a push.... I love my Tories,,,, and I think because they are so lovely and because they were so bloomin expensive I take extra great care of them. So I say splurge,... Now... Where the hell did I leave my glasses
ReplyDeleteLOL!!! I do like Tory Burch. I'd just be so afraid of losing them or breaking them. And as irritating as it is to break cheap sunglasses, I'd imagine I'd be way more irritated if I'd spent a considerable sum on them. Maybe next year ..
DeleteNop - not a proud owner of any expensive pairs at all. I don't get on with sunglasses so walk round permanently squinting in the sunshine. My nose bridge is too flat so nothing sits on it well and I usually end up with cheek dents. I'm still looking and I have a lot of fun in airport lounges trying all the expensive ones on. I'm just a big kid ... like you were saying, when I grow up ....
ReplyDeleteI on the other hand, always find that glasses leave annoying little dents on the sides of my nose. I've always assumed it's because I only wear cheap pairs. As a result, they are generally to be found on the top of my head holding my hair out of my face. But I must confess, I do like trying them on in the airport also:)
DeleteI love sunglasses, partly because it doesn't matter if you've gained a pound or two, they always fit. Amazingly, my Tom Fords have lasted a couple of years, so I consider that a very good £'s/ wear purchase. now lusting after Ray- Ban aviators!!
ReplyDeleteI'm beginning to think maybe it's time I invested in a decent pair. It's strange, because I'm very good at taking care of handbags and clothes. Perhaps if I spent 'real' money on sunglasses, I'd be a bit more careful with them!
DeleteHi Helen
ReplyDeleteLove those sunglasses!
I bought a pair of Chanel ones last summer
and lost them before Christmas.
The ones I bought in M&S for €12 three years ago are still going strong.....
Have a good week.
Oh nooooo! You see? That would be just devastating. Now I'm beginning to waver again about whether or not I should invest. The 'designer' ones I've bought (for €20!!!) in TK Maxx are all long gone .. but the ones I got in Heatons for €3 are still going strong also. Maybe I should just buy a new handbag instead, lol!
DeleteThanks so much for your comment on my blog. Following you now on GFC, hope you can follow back =)

Hi there! These are a fabulous pick, I don't wear them that often as I wear prescription glasses permanently and so only have a couple of prescription sunglasses x
