Ok, I’m a
day late with Wednesday’s Wish, but somehow life got busy, time ran away and I barely noticed what day it was! Sorry, sorry, sorry!.
I may have
mentioned in a previous post that The Child is making her Confirmation in
March. Well, I hereby forgive my mother
for the atrocious outfit she made me wear at my own Confirmation all those
years ago. Dear God, how is one supposed
to dress a petite 12 year old when the selection is either a) too young, b) too
tarty (yes .. tarty!), c) doesn’t fit or d) “I don’t like it” … said in a
truculent tone that makes me seriously fear the teenage years.
But I digress.
Clearly Mommy must also get a new outfit … which is proving to be almost as
harrowing a task as dressing The Child. Today, whilst browsing the web in
search of inspiration, I came across this little beauty. Not for the Confirmation, you understand, but
I get easily distracted and there it was!
And with that price tag, there it
will stay. But I do love leather and I’m
still not fully convinced that wearing leather trousers at my age wouldn’t be
screaming ‘mutton’. A leather skirt
however, is an entirely different kettle of fish. And it can be worn with opaques or boots so big cheers from those of us who need coverage! The reason that this appealed to me was the
unexpected zip up the front. I like unexpected
details like that. So what do you
think? Would this be on your Wish List
if you had an unlimited budget?

Ah yes very nice, I've wanted a leather skirt for ages!
ReplyDeleteMe too. Just don't have the funds right now sadly :(
DeleteLove Malene Birger! I have my lady for confirmation also Helen, hopefully we will agree on her outfit! I have my sister in law's wedding after that so I may try for something which will do me for both occasions but change the accessories.

I'll be dying to see what you get Anne. It's hard to know what to wear ... and impossible to see anything right now with all the sales racks still clogging up the shops
DeleteThat skirt is gorgeous, I get great wear out of my (P)leather skirt, would really love a real one. I remember my own confirmation too, I looked like a 50 yr old!! oh the shame!
ReplyDeleteOh dear .. but be comforted by the fact that we all looked like miniature middle-aged women. All we were short of was the 'shampoo and set'!!
DeleteIt's gorgeous. I used to have an A line leather skirt from Gap that I adored - gave it away years ago for some daft reason but with knee high leather boots it was great. The zip detail here is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteI can't beleieve you gave away a leather skirt. 'Bet you're regretting that now!
DeleteLOL! It's a constant battle dressing my little girl as well. We've been to both extremes of the spectrum - from ultra pink to "I only want to wear jeans". You definitely can't go wrong with the Malene Birger skirt. Subtle but very very sexy!
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear I'm not the only one struggling with the issue of dressing daughters! I've only myself to blame however, as she's inherited my love of clothes and also has VERY definite ideas on what she wants to wear, even if I think her ideas are appalling!!
Deletecan we see your confirmation pic please ??!
ReplyDeleteNot a chance in Hell! I'll leave it to your imagination with hints like brown velvet jacket, cream POP socks (ah yes, my friend), a cream peaked hat. I can't go on ... far too distressing:)
DeleteI love the skirt and I also think you could pull off a pair of leather trousers if you got the right pair!!! It works for Patsy and Edina!! Have a good weekend. Kat x
ReplyDeleteAs much as I LOVE Ab Fab, I'm not entirely sure that Pats or Eds would by my style icons, lol!!!
DeleteYes, leather skirts seems to uplift everything and make florals cool and edgy and the same with stripes. ( I have tried on leather trousers and at my age there is too much "ripple" i.e. cellulite showing through. ) Think leather skirt is perfect. You have fab legs and this will showcase the gams.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jody .. you always say the nicest things:) Don't believe for a second that you have cellulite - don't ruin my image of you!!
DeleteThis skirt rocks, just lovely
